Using Lightning Lanes at the Disneyland Resort

One way they do that is through Lightning Lane passes, which allow you to skip the regular line and save time during your visit! These services will help you navigate the theme parks and make the most of your time at the Disneyland Resort.

Disney Genie is a complimentary service available for all Guests via the Disneyland app, while Lightning Lane Passes are available for purchase within the app to help you maximize your day and save time waiting in line. Keep reading to learn more about these offerings and how they work!

Available for all guests right in the Disneyland mobile app, the complimentary Disney Genie service offers features that let you create your best Disney day. These features include a personalized itinerary creator that effortlessly and smartly maps out an entire day inspired by the things you tell it you love – helping you make the most of your park time so you can have even more fun.

Disney Genie continues to update your itinerary from morning to night as the day changes, so you can stay spontaneous and go with the flow. Disney Genie uses Disney’s decades of knowledge and expertise in how guests visit the parks to make the experience better for everyone by:

• Reducing time in lines while keeping in mind your top attraction picks

• Pacing the day with experiences you will enjoy – and haven’t already done yet

• Building around existing plans like dining reservations and whether you have a Park Hopper ticket

Lightning Lane Multi Pass was previously called Disney Genie+. Lightning Lane Multi Pass provides access to the Lightning Lane by selecting arrival windows at more than 15 attractions throughout the two parks. Lightning Lane Multi Pass will be available to add to your ticket or vacation package for $30 per person per day.

If you choose not to add Lightning Lane Multi Pass in advance or if you only want to purchase it on select days, it is also available for purchase for single-day use in order to use this “skip the line” benefit. Single-day purchases for the Multi Pass through the Disneyland app will begin at $30 per day, and may vary by date, based on demand. You can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass inside the app after you have entered the park.

How it works: 

Once you have the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service, you can book the next available arrival window for your first experience via the Disneyland mobile app (available as soon as you enter the park on the day of your visit). Once you’ve redeemed your initial selection (or the arrival window has passed), or if it has been 2 hours since you made your last selection, you can make another selection using the app, and so on up to park closing.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass also includes special Audio Tales to enhance your experience in the parks, as well as all of your Disney PhotoPass Downloads from your day!

For some of the most highly demanded attractions (which are not included in the Multi Pass), Lightning Lane entry will be available for purchase individually with a Single Pass. Guests may purchase the next available arrival window one at a time for up to two attractions a day, and pricing will vary depending on the date. This option will be available for all guests, with or without the Multi Pass service, and cannot be added in advance.

I’m confused about the names! Is this a new change?

Yes, Disney recently changed the names of these services, effective July 24, 2024. Disney Genie+ was renamed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass; Individual Attraction Selections were renamed to Lightning Lane Single Pass.

When can Lightning Lane Multi Pass be added to existing vacation packages?

Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be added for your full length of stay to  resort + ticket vacation packages. For future vacation package bookings, it can be added at time of booking or any time up until 5 days before you arrive.

If I add Lightning Lane Multi Pass to my vacation package, does it provide the service for all days I will be in the parks?

Yes, for example if you have a 3-day park ticket and add Lightning Lane Multi Pass to your vacation package, you will have the Multi Pass for all 3 days you will be in the parks.

Can I purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for partial days of my vacation?

Yes, but not in advance. If Lightning Lane Multi Pass is not added to your vacation package for your full length of stay, you will be responsible for purchasing the Multi Pass within your Disneyland mobile app each morning when you enter the park.

Can Lightning Lane Single Pass be purchased prior to my check-in date?

No, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can only be purchased on the day of. This option will be available in the Disneyland app after you have entered your first theme park for the day.

If I want to “skip the lines” at the parks, which do I need?

You need the Multi Pass to skip lines at more than 15 attractions throughout the two parks. If you’d like to skip the lines at the top headliner attractions, you will want to purchase Single Pass(es) each morning of your vacation via your Disneyland mobile app.

If I have a Park Hopper ticket, can I purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and use it at both parks in the same day?

Yes, if you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass with a Park Hopper ticket, you can use it to access Lightning Lanes at the included attractions in either park you visit that day, including if you visit both parks on the same day.

Can I still enjoy attractions without Lightning Lane passes?

Yes, standby lines and virtual queues are also offered, so you can still do the attractions without purchasing any Lightning Lane passes.

What is the price for Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

Can I purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass without purchasing the Multi Pass?

Can a Lightning Lane Single Pass be purchased for more than one park? For example, can one be for Disney California Adventure and the other in Disneyland for the same day?

Yes, Single Pass can be purchased for more than one park in the same day. For example, you could purchase Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland on the same day. Guests can buy up to 2 Single Passes each day.

Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass open at the same time for all Guests?

All Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass (if not already included in their ticket) and can begin making selections once they have entered their first theme park of the day.

When can I purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass?

All Guests can purchase a Single Pass inside the Disneyland mobile app as soon they have entered their first theme park of the day.

Can I modify a Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection?

Yes, you can cancel and rebook an available time/attraction, based on availability.

Are these features the same as they are at Walt Disney World?
